A new case of bird flu in Brazil Ministry of Agriculture: it will not affect the consumption and export of poultry meat.

Brazil confirmed on June 7th that it was highly pathogenic in a family in Campinápolis, Mato Grosso.

The Brazilian website "g1globo" reported that the official Veterinary Service Center (SVO) was responsible for blocking the farm and collecting samples for laboratory analysis, and the test result of avian influenza virus was positive. This is the fourth time that the virus has been found in a self-sufficient poultry farm in Brazil.

On the 8th, the government began to carry out disinfection measures and monitoring actions in a radius of 10 kilometers around the outbreak point. One of the measures is to set up a sanitary barrier to strictly control and thoroughly disinfect the vehicles passing through the area.

The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture clearly pointed out that there are no commercial poultry farms in the monitored radius. The Ministry of Agriculture stressed: "Confirming the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in self-sufficient poultry farms will not affect the trade between Brazil and poultry and egg products. The consumption and export of poultry products are still safe. "

The Ministry of Agriculture also said: "The epidemic confirmed in self-sufficient poultry farms will not change the 28-day sanitary quarantine period after the disinfection work at the epidemic site in Negru, Rio Grande do Sul. A commercial poultry farm in the city has recently been confirmed to have an outbreak of bird flu. "

Brazil found the first case of avian influenza among wild birds in May 2023. Two years later (in 2025), on May 15th, Brazil first discovered the highly pathogenic avian influenza epidemic in the commercial breeding system, which was reported by the commercial poultry farm in Monte Negru. In the past two years, the epidemic situation of avian influenza recorded in Brazil only appeared in wild birds or self-sufficient poultry farms, and did not affect related commercial activities.

The disinfection of poultry farms affected by the virus in Monte Negru was completed on May 21st. From May 22nd, if there are no new cases of avian influenza in commercial farms in Brazil in the next 28 days, it can be regarded as "clearing the epidemic".
