In 2016, Guangdong Zhongshan Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid appointed Gao Feng as the captain of the resident team in Lindong Village (and the first resident secretary in 2019). Since serving as a poverty alleviation cadre, Gao Feng knows every inch of changes in Lindong Village: from leaking earth buildings to solid brick houses, from barren farmland to colorful peppers in greenhouse vegetable bases, the poverty alleviation team has led Lindong Village to develop leading industries with vegetable planting characteristics step by step. By December 2019, there were 43 households and 113 people in Lindong Village who fully implemented the "two guarantees and three guarantees", and the poverty alleviation rate reached 100%.

Lindong Village is located in the northeast of Nan Jiezhen, Guang Ningxian, Zhaoqing City, at the junction of two counties, with weak geographical advantages and lagging economic development. It is one of the poverty-stricken villages in Guangdong Province. When he first came, Gao Feng was bent on finding a breakthrough point to get rid of poverty. After carefully understanding the situation in the village and consulting the opinions of Guang Ningxian Agriculture Bureau, Gao Feng chose to plant the characteristics — — Colored pepper planting is a key supporting industry.
"Long-term poverty alleviation must have an industry, but also aim at high-end market demand and improve the use value of land. Don’t underestimate these little colored peppers, they have ‘ University question ’ ！” Gao Feng said.
Since Gao Feng introduced colored pepper planting technology to Lindong Village, earth-shaking changes have taken place in the village. At present, Lindong Village has become the largest modern agricultural industrial base in Zhaoqing. The villagers also promote the harvested colored peppers through online online micro-shops, participate in poverty alleviation agricultural products fairs offline, and purchase canteens and employees’ orders, bringing more than 2,000 yuan/person to poor households every year.
In addition to the production and planting business model, the poverty alleviation team also promoted the income of poor households by carrying out labor transfer and employment, providing stable employment opportunities, taking shares in hydropower stations and carrying out chicken breeding projects. In 2019, it helped the average income of poor households with working ability to increase by 12,000 yuan.

"Pepper Porter" solves the problem of unsalable products.
At the beginning of the new year in 2020, the sudden COVID-19 epidemic spread throughout the country. Gao Feng decided to end the Spring Festival holiday ahead of schedule. After telling his wife that he couldn’t take care of his two-year-old child, he drove more than 250 kilometers back to the village to lead the villagers to fight the "epidemic" and tide over the difficulties together.

Two days later, Gao Feng’s voice was smoking, and his phone was burning. After countless phone calls, Gao Feng finally reached a cooperation with the government of Nan Jiezhen City, Guang Ningxian, and 1,300 kilograms of colored peppers will be distributed to 23 unit villages and communities in Nan Jiezhen. After solving the sales problem of colored peppers, Gao Feng finally put down a big stone in his heart.
Due to the Spring Festival, coupled with the impact of the epidemic, logistics is hard to find and expensive. He began to be as busy as a top, transporting colored peppers one after another for 200 kilometers. After finally completing the distribution, Gao Feng joked that he had become a "colored pepper porter". But when I returned to Lindong Village at night, looking at the empty colored pepper stacking area and the reassuring smile of poor households, Gao Feng felt that all the hard work was worth it.
Picked colored peppers in greenhouses will start a new round of planting, but under the severe epidemic situation, agricultural materials are very scarce and logistics is also very tight. Gao Feng started a new round of telephone harassment. He searched all the agricultural materials companies in the county, and finally got some agricultural materials under the coordination of many departments, so that spring ploughing could be carried out in an orderly manner.
Nowadays, the spring ploughing of colored peppers in greenhouses has been carried out smoothly. Gao Feng stands at the door every day to provide protective masks for the temperature measurement and reminder of planters entering greenhouses. The fields planted with colored peppers in greenhouses are full of spring, and the fruitful results in the coming year are faintly visible.

Epidemic prevention and tackling key problems, actively promoting various resumption of work and production
Epidemic is the command, and prevention and control is the responsibility. "The COVID-19 epidemic is a big test, and ultimately it depends on the comprehensive score." Gao Feng believes that the prevention and control of the epidemic situation and the resumption of work and production test the level and ability of governance, not one or the other.
Over the past few days, he led the poverty alleviation working group in Lindong Village to fight the COVID-19 epidemic, and at the same time, he actively organized cadres and masses in rural areas and party member to promote the resumption of work and production, so as to ensure that the prevention and control of the epidemic and the development of poverty alleviation industries can be achieved simultaneously.
In order to speed up the project construction, Gao Feng led the village poverty alleviation cadres to strictly supervise the epidemic prevention and control, while actively promoting the development of poverty alleviation projects in accordance with the standards for returning to work and epidemic prevention requirements, and speeding up the construction progress of the fourth phase of the 100 kW photovoltaic project. He also focused on giving full play to the industry advantages of helping units, and organized inspection and maintenance of all photovoltaic projects in Lindong Village to ensure the stable operation of photovoltaic equipment and consolidate the development effect of poverty alleviation industry in Lindong Village; At the same time, epidemic monitoring, protective measures for construction workers and the development of poverty alleviation industry will be included in the current key work to implement comprehensive management, and the whole process will be tracked and supervised.
In order to cooperate with the resumption of work in towns and villages and the return of personnel to their posts, Gao Feng also led village cadres to visit their homes in person to solve the problem of returning migrant workers and poor people. He actively visited 25 poor households with working ability in Lindong Village to carry out the work of returning to work, and contacted enterprises and relevant departments to help poor households return to work as soon as possible. He also actively contacted enterprises to recruit poor laborers, organized more than 20 poor households with working ability in Lindong Village to carry out employment recruitment, and helped poverty alleviation industries and villagers in Lindong Village to resume work and production as soon as possible, so as to get rid of poverty and take off their hats as soon as possible.
